Angela Fuggle

I write because I like exploring ideas. The kind of ideas that people seem to get uncomfortable with if you bring them into conversations. I also like the sense that the made-up can often be more true than the 'real', and that there is no such thing as 'real' only what is perceived and expressed by an individual. I read fairy stories, myths, legends and fantasy. I also write because I read and am inspired, and daunted, by talents like Angela Carter, Peter Ackroyd, Iain Banks, Peter Carey... and can lose myself in a bookshop as well as a book. Mostly I write because I enjoy it, because it takes me away.
