Helen Harkawenko

My work is a record of my observations of everyday scenes and objects through the media of watercolour drawings, pencil sketches and finally hand stitched images.  The natural surroundings of urbanised scenes and the open space of the countryside are a constant source of inspiration with birds and wildlife forming a recurring theme.  The traditional hand stitch technique of black work underpins my fabric pieces, informing pattern and texture translated from my original drawings.
